Full Hearts at The Manor Estate | A Madera, CA Wedding
Some weddings carry more weight than others. Not in a way that slows them down — in a way that makes them feel more intentional, more alive. Kayce and Jared's May wedding at The Manor Estate in Madera, California was exactly that kind of day.
Both Kacey and Jared walked into this day having already carried something heavy, with the loss of a cherished loved one. While their absence was felt, quietly and deeply, and woven into the details they chose and the people they surrounded themselves with, the day itself was full. Full of joy, full of family, full of the kind of celebration that honors grief and love at the same time. That's a rare thing to witness, and we didn't take it for granted.
From the moment we arrived to capture flat lays and bridal details, it was clear this couple had put their whole hearts into every part of the celebration. The florals, the custom bar menu, the violin music — every detail told a story. And at the center of it all were two people who were just genuinely in love and ready to walk into the marriage covenant together.
A Warm Spring Day at the Manor Estate CA
May 2nd came in a little warmer than usual for the Central Valley, but that golden California sunshine made for absolutely stunning light all day long. The Manor Estate — a historic outdoor venue nestled along the Madera Wine Trail on Avenue 9, just between Fresno and Madera — was in full spring form. Lush gardens, a stately manor house backdrop, and by evening, the kind of warm soft light that makes every portrait feel effortless.
If you haven't been to The Manor Estate, it's one of the most photogenic venues in the Central Valley. The property gives you so many options — the iconic steps of the manor itself, the expanse of the North Lawn, the Western Gardens, and intimate pockets throughout the grounds that reveal themselves throughout the day. As a wedding photographer, it's the kind of venue that makes you excited to show up — so many locations, so much variety, all within one beautiful property.
Getting Ready in Madera for Their Perfect Wedding Day
The bridal suite at the manor has a cozy, intimate energy — perfect for the quieter moments of the morning. As a Fresno wedding photographer who's worked across the Central Valley, we always love when a getting-ready space has this kind of warmth to it. We captured Kayce's dress hanging in the north garden, along with flat lays of all the details that made this wedding uniquely theirs — the shoes (both ceremony and reception pairs), jewelry, vow books, Kayce's bouquet, and their invitation suite. That last one deserves a mention: their invitations featured a hand-sketched illustration of The Manor Estate itself — the very backdrop for their ceremony. It was such a thoughtful touch, and one of those details that tells you everything about how much care went into this day.
Meanwhile, Jared and his groomsmen were getting sharp. Grandpa (aka Pops) — who also happened to be the best man and legit the coolest — set the tone for the whole day. Cool, proud, and completely present.
Brandy, the maid of honor, and Kayce's sister had a quiet moment together during getting ready. Those are the photos people don't always think to ask for, but always end up being among their favorites.

The Ceremony Alter Moment
The ceremony began at 4:00 PM with a violinist setting the mood — there's something about live strings at an outdoor wedding that elevates the whole atmosphere, and the music carried beautifully across the grounds as guests found their seats.
Before the processional, we made a point to photograph the reserved seats at the front — a candle and photo setup honoring Jared's best friend, Kayce's father and her brother. It was a quiet, intentional tribute, and one of the most important shots of the entire day. This couple had worked hard to make sure the people who couldn't be there were still somehow present. You could feel it.
This couple had a large wedding party, which is always a cool testate to who they are. Their friends came from all over to celebrate with them on this special day. As the bridesmaids and groomsmen walked out, we could feel the excitement growing. Though, a stand out moment was the “flower grandmas” walking… no dancing down the isle. They got a cheer from the crowd.
When Kayce walked down the aisle, the emotion was immediate. She was stunning, and the weight of the moment — joy and grief held together — was written on the faces of everyone watching. And when the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, that altar moment, the one Kayce had told us was her number one shot, delivered everything she hoped for. Pure joy. Jared's face, Kayce's reaction, the whole room exhaling all at once. That's the frame.
A unity candle ceremony added another layer of meaning and there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience as the family came around them and prayed after the candles we’re lit. You could feel the presence of the Lord around them as they prayed, it was such a meaningful moment in the ceremony.
Between the Vows and the Party
While guests gathered for cocktails, we worked through family portraits — a large, warm, multi-generational group with plenty of love in every frame. We knocked out the full shot list efficiently, which left room for what we were really looking forward to: portraits of Kayce and Jared on the grounds.
One of the things we love most about a Manor Estate wedding is how much the property gives you to work with. The North Lawn, the gardens, the manor backdrop — we moved through a handful of locations that showcased the best of what this venue has to offer, all while the sun was still high and the grounds were glowing. Jared's easy smile and Kayce's happiness made our job very easy.
Dinner, Dancing & Unforgettable Moments At The Reception
The grand entrance set the tone — big energy, big smiles, the whole room on their feet. The first dance followed immediately, and from there the evening took on a life of its own.
Sunset photos are always a favorite of ours, and we snuck the couple away shortly after dinner to capture some stunning photos with them. This is a time we always love to take with our couples. It’s so much fun to capture these epic shots that will forever be treasured by the bride and groom.
The custom animal-themed bar menu got its detail shot before the ceremony, the cake cutting was perfectly chaotic in the best way, and the dance floor — the moment Kayce had told us she was most excited about — absolutely delivered. The DJ had the room moving all night. True to form, all of their friends hit the floor. Grandpa hit the floor. The flower grandmas were out there too.
The night closed out with a glow stick exit — guests lining the path, sticks glowing in the warm evening air, and Kayce and Jared running through surrounded by everyone they love most. A perfect end to a day that held everything.
What We'll Remember About This Manor Estate Wedding Day
Kayce worked incredibly hard to put this day together, and it showed in every single detail. But what struck us most wasn't the decor or the timeline — it was the trust. She and Jared handed us full creative freedom and just let us document the day as it actually felt. That's the best gift a couple can give their photographers, and we didn't take it lightly.
Ten years from now, when they look back at these photos, we hope they see exactly what we saw: a room full of people who showed up completely, a couple who were absolutely present with each other, and a day that held both grief and celebration with grace.
That's what we're here for.
